I did not really get into running until I was well into my 20s. I had always been into health and fitness, but running was not a part of my regime. While complimenting some friends on their plans to run the 1999 Marine Corps Marathon, an acquaintance told me I could never accomplish such a goal because he did not think I was strong enough. Challenge accepted. Marathon registration submitted. Training plan executed.

Although the training and marathon were tough, I had never felt stronger, or more willful and determined upon crossing that finish line. During the course of my training, I approached the race as a bucket list item to be checked off - “Run a Marathon”. Never did I expect that once I finished the next day, I would be icing my knees and searching for my next race. And I haven’t stopped since.

When I moved to Texas over 6 years ago my running experience really took off when I started training with iRun. I had no idea there was so much to know! I have learned so much since then and am grateful to be able to work alongside some of the best training partners out there. I am a very lucky girl!
