"I started running in 2002 I could hardly run half a mile but it did not take long for me to get the running bug! In 2003 I trained for the Austin Motorola Marathon and half. Linda Miller and I relayed the full. I was so excited and nervous. I ran the 2nd half of the race and crossed the finish line with overwhelming emotions. I did it, I ran 13.1 miles. My husband of now 24 years and my now 22 and 20 year old sons and 19 year old daughter all waiting for me at the finish. I had such a feeling of accomplishment and seeing my family at the finish made it even sweeter, a day I will never forget.
Since 2004, I have run 9 marathons and 7 half marathons and I am currently training with iRun for a full in January. These classes have made me a stronger runner and have improved my pace!
In 2010 I met Mitch and Michele at Lifetime Fitness on a Saturday run. I volunteered for one of their packet pick ups at the iRun on Stone Oak then known as Run On! I had a lot of fun talking to the runners coming in to get their packets. So, needless to say, when Michele asked if I might be interested in a job, I said,"yes". I had been a stay at home mom (best job ever!) for 18 years. The timing was perfect. We had Matthew on his way to college and Patrick and Jaclyn were in high school and I had some free time.
I have been at iRun for four years now and love it! Helping fit customers in the best shoes for them and listening to their running journey is great. I go into work and get to talk about running, yay me!!"
My Favorite Things
Favorite place to run:
When traveling, going on a run wherever we are and seeing parts of that place that could not be seen otherwise. It's a great way to get familiar with my surroundings.
Favorite race fuel:
Gu pineapple Roctane. I like the flavor and the energy it gives me. I also love Endurox as my recovery drink, it really quenches my thirst after a hard workout.
Favorite running shoe:
My favorite running shoe this year has been the Adidas Energy boost. It has a great balance of firmness and cushioning.
Favorite Pre-Race meal:
The night before a race, I like to keep it simple with brown rice, grilled chicken breast and a beer or glass of wine to calm my nerves before bed.
Favorite Post-Race Meal and where:
My favorite place to eat is anywhere my friends are after the race. I enjoy hearing about their race journey. I will typically order a cheeseburger and fries and a cold beverage.
My favorite race is typically anywhere I have run well. : )

Favorite Running Quote:
"Running strips life back to the bare essentials. When we challenge ourselves, it breaks down barriers. It brings us back to our essence and peels away the layers of ego we surround ourselves with. Many a grown man or woman will cry during or when finishing a marathon: long regarded as the ultimate achievement in the running world. Emotions flow freely, the struggle is obvious and most of the competition is with yourself", Grahak Cunningham
Favorite song on your running play list:
I have so many favorites...I like certain songs at the beginning of a race, middle and end of races...For a normal everyday run, I like Hello Good Morning by Diddy Ft. T.I. It's a pretty old song but still one of my favorites on my playlist.
My favorite running distance is 10-12 miles.
I love CWX running tights and the Juno sports bra, Mizuno breath thermo 1/2 zips.
My favorite workout is speed work on Tuesdays with iRun marathon training group.
