Kelly, Sales Associate at our Stone Oak Location
"After some college I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to join the Air Force but I was over the maximum allowable weight standard so I could not join right away. So I started running, lost the weight and was able to enlist in the Air Force. After I enlisted, I continued running to maintain military standards, to meet annual physical training requirements and to manage my weight. Somewhere during that time running became less of a chore, more a hobby and then my passion. I enjoyed talking about it, reading about it, learning about it so I decided to train and run my first half-marathon. A great friend and I completed the San Antonio half marathon in 2006 and I have been hooked ever since. I have completed two full-marathons, several half-marathons, 10K’s, and 5K’s since 2006. I am looking forward to running this year’s San Antonio Rock and Roll half marathon and the Austin Marathon in 2015.
After I retired from the Air Force I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, sound familiar? I was trained as an electronics repair technician, received a degree in Management of Information Systems but I wanted to do something else. I made the decision to follow my passion and pursue a career in the running industry. Fortunately, I was hired as a Sales Associate for iRun Texas this past May and have enjoyed being part of this great team. I have learned a great deal in my short time and have been afforded an outstanding opportunity to mentor & coach runners preparing for their half-marathons this fall. I look forward to meeting more great people and continuing my education in the running industry."
